Kirby Cross railway station is on the Walton section of the Sunshine Coast Line, a branch of the Great Eastern Main Line, in the East of England, serving the village of Kirby Cross, Essex. It is down-line from London Liverpool Street〔http://www.s-r-s.org.uk/railref/ref-ge.html〕 and is situated between to the west and to the east. Its three-letter station code is KBX. It is currently managed by Abellio Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving the station. ==History==
The station was opened by the Tendring Hundred Railway, a subsidiary of the Great Eastern Railway, in 1866.〔Johnson, I: ''Turning Point: The Story of Kirby le Soken, Essex'', page 107. Regency Press, 1982.〕 It has been unstaffed since the 1990s. The station has two platforms, with eastbound and westbound lines but to the east and west of the station the line is single-track.
